DEVIN TOWNSEND Performs At NAMM; Video Footage, Photos
January 14, 2011Canadian musician/producer Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, STEVE VAI, LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR, GWAR) performed yesterday (Thursday, January 13) at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California as part of the 2011 NAMM (National Association Of Music Merchants) show, a massive music-products convention that runs through Sunday.
Video footage of the performance can be viewed below. Photos at available at MetalAssault.com.
The 2011 NAMM show is the largest music trade show in America, with more than 80,000 attendees and more than 1,500 exhibitors traveling from more than 100 countries. The convention, which runs through Sunday, features the music industry's newest musical instruments and state-of-the-art technologies.
NAMM show is **NOT** open to the public. The only attendees are NAMM member companies and their invited guests.
Townsend has tapped Jens Bogren (OPETH, KATATONIA, PARADISE LOST, BLOODBATH) to mix "Deconstruction" — the third in a series of albums to be made available under THE DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT moniker. The sessions will take place in late February at Fascination Street studio in Örebro, Sweden.
According to Devin, "'Ghost' is the mellowest (by far) and prettiest record I've done so far" with a "very wonderful vibe." It will be released with "the shitstorm that is 'Deconstruction' simultaneously" — possibly in early April.
